Re: [foxboro] 100 serries FBM end of sales

Stan:

We are in the same boat, as no doubt are numerous other facilities. We
constantly add to the existing system, which keeps me constantly trying not
to box the system into a corner.

Lately we've added 200 series FBMs and it hasn't been a major issue, but
only because the projects were "significant" and the I/A pieces of the
projects were relatively small in comparison. Right now I'm more concerned
about the future sales life of the CP60, particularly since most of our CPs
are CP40B's. Our I/A system is pure UNIX and I still don't have any desire
to move to Windows, which I understand is required for a 270 (due to the
I/A version requirement)?

The biggest problem is, though, is justification. For example, while there
are many arguable reasons to migrate to a mesh network based system, the
fact is that I have zero problems with the current "old school" nodebus
system with nodebus extenders [*knock on wood*]. The same problem exists
for swapping the current CP40B's with CP60's in anticipation of projects
requiring new FBMs. I cannot justify spending money in any reasonable way,
regardless of what the Foxboro/Invensys salesperson wants to believe.
