[foxboro] Weird characters in LOOPID field

Has anybody else ever come across weird characters, like "]", or
smileys, or d's in the LOOPID field of their COMPOUND blocks? We have
Matrikon Process Guard here, and part of their Management of Change
procedure is to run an ICCPRT script periodically to see how the alarms
settings are changing over time. In a bunch of our COMPOUND blocks, the
LOOPID field is filled with these characters, which causes Process Guard
to crash when it reads them.
We did an upgrade from 6.2.1 to 7.1 recently, and we regularly use
FoxCAE v5.0 to backdocument and FeedForward's Remote Control
Configurator v.0.94.1 (I know, use at your own risk). Before I go
through and delete all these weird characters, I was wondering if
anybody had heard of this and if they served any purpose that I'm not
aware of.
Thanks,
