[foxboro] Viewing AIM*Historian string data

Folks,
This seemed simple enough when I started... I added string data (IND
blocks, SN0010, etc.) to the AIM*Historian but I cannot view this data via
Data Link or the Historian Browser. I get "No Data Available". I can get
my regular data, just not string data this way.
One of the engineers just needs to view string data. All my searching on
the Foxboro and Freelists archive only mention more complicated ways of
getting this data than what we need.
I know string data has had its limitations in the past (legacy Historian,
etc.), but I thought that was behind us with AIM*Historian. Should I be I
be able to view string values using Data Link or the Historian Browser?
Thanks.
