Hello all,
We current have both Spectrum and I/A in our plant, connected by a
redundant Spectrum Master Gateway. However, the antiquated hardware in the
gateway (286 PCs) is becoming a maintenance problem.
We plan to migrate fully to I/A over the next several years, but in the
meantime, we don't want the maintenance headache of the SMGs. Therefore, I
am looking for an inexpensive alternative to get Spectrum data on the I/A.
The link will be read-only from the I/A's perspective (we still have
Videospec consoles). Redundancy is a plus but not an absolute requirement.
Something that requires little or no change to the Spectrum would be
preferable, i.e., the migration FBMs Foxboro sells would probably not be a
route we would want to take.
I researched Spectrum gateways some years ago and remember finding a box
that plugged into a Linkport and converted the data to Modbus, but I don't
have the info any more (I don't even know if the company is still around).
Something along that line is kind of what I am thinking of, but I'll
entertain any and all suggestions.
Thanks,
Corey Clingo
