[foxboro] Path forward for Solaris Migration

Seasons Greetings all!

We are heading into a major upgrade at one of our sites. Plan is to move from
Solaris and Sun into the Windows and PC world. Given the direction from
Microsoft on XP to Vista, the question then is, should we move to XP and then
plan for a Vista migration or just wait a bit and be one of the early adopters
of Vista.
What I am seeing is Microsoft Mainstream Support for XP Pro is 14/04/2009 and
Microsoft Extended Support for XP Pro is 08/04/2014.

I am not sure where Invensys is with their Vista offering at this time. Given
the Invensys PC50 FDT runs on both XP and Vista, I can only assume that Vista
for I/A Workstations is just around the corner. And then, purchasing a new PC
now comes with Vista ... and I expect soon the drivers for the newer hardware
(found on the motherboards) will only be Vista flavored.

Incorporated with this question is the migration of FoxDraw to the next
graphics platform that works with Vista (albeit a newer version of FoxDraw or
the Wonderware graphics that I have heard about).

Appreciate any thought anyone wishes to share (as to the correct path)

In advance, thank-you
Glenn D
