[foxboro] Migration from AP20FT to 50 Series

Speed and agility aside, has anyone found the AP/AW50+ to be a more reliable
workhorse than the AP20FT in diskless hosting?
Granted, for an exact comparison to our AP20FT intensive installation, the
Sun host application set would have to be limited to system monitor, CSA,
and CP hosting (i.e. no historian, BPM, FoxBatch, R-Batch, BOSS, PAM, AMI,
etc.) as well as restricted user access.
Background:
- As large as our installed base of AP20's is, we have technicians in our
instrument dept. who are adept at pull/pushing modules with occasional
module replacement if all else fails. Restoration of a Sun would need to be
deferred to a call-in (likely due to an event-activated page anyway).
- Some MTBF approximations that I've seen show AP20FT's ahead of AW51's by a
factor of ~60. Of course, the MTBF values include AP20's that have shipped
and are not actually in service.
- We have begun to conserve our AP20's while proceeding to migrate to AW's
as necessary.
Thanks,
Dave Robertson
