[foxboro] FYI - Ghost OM lists.

FYI.

We have a NT based IA system with a Terminal Server and have been having
problems with ghost OM lists in our CPs and AWs. I think this is the same
problem that some of you have when using Go-Global. If a remote Foxview
session is closed incorrectly, i.e.. you close the remote session before
exiting the Foxview application, any OM list opened by that Foxview
application are orphaned. At our mill this would cause the OM scan load on
the stations to build over time forcing a periodic re-boot of the terminal
server.  Re-booting the box causes stations holding lists open for that box
to close them.

We corrected this problem by changing some of the setting for users that
connect through the terminal server. The default action when a session is
dropped is to reset the session. This is where the orphaned lists are being
created. When the session is reset Foxview will not close it's lists. There
is an option to hold the session in a disconnected state and not reset the
session. When a user logs back in they will get the session that they had
before the disconnect. The second option changed was to reconnect this
session from any client that the user logs in on. If you use a common user
for remote sessions to the IA, we all know which user this is, then what
happens is a remote session that is disconnected incorrectly for any reason
will keep getting passed around until someone closes Foxview before exiting
the session.

The settings can be accessed through the user manager on the Administrative
tools menu in the Start menu.
