I'm wondering if anyone out there is successfully using Rosemount 3095MV
(multivariable: d/p, P, & T) transmitters in Hart mode connected to
FBM214 (and FCP270 hosted by P91 @ V8.1) We recently found out (during
a start-up, of course) that the second (pressure) and third
(temperature) variables using Hart protocol would smurf out (turn cyan
color, not communicate), similarly affecting the primary measurement
(d/p; in one case Combustion Air Flow). This made our operators quite
nervous for some reason...
Anyway, there is an IPS Customer advisory from December 2005 stating
that there was a QF1007709b (code A1 revision, i.e. critical/safety
related) that which was superseded by QF1008610, which has been
apparently withdrawn (download not available on GPS website). In
working with Invensys' tech support we tried various parameter changes
and eeprom levels to make them work, but to no avail. The original
eeprom level of the FBM214 was 2.29, after EEPROM update was 2.24. A
bootleg version 2.35D was also tried, but no luck.=20
A C.A.R. is in progress, but as they say 'the show must go on'. We
ended up using (for now) the same FBM 214 but with transmitter in dumb
4-20ma mode (d/p signal only) and static values for the pressure and
temperature compensation calculations in I/A. (Note: It is possible to
do P&T compensation in the transmitter and use only the corrected flow
range but we also wanted to show these P & T variables dynamically on
the display to the operator as well as use them for calculations...)
Any suggestions, advice, words of wisdom, and/or sympathy would be
greatly appreciated. =20
