I'm trying to retrieve daily average data from AIM v3.1 and I'm getting some
strange results, and I was hoping someone could help.
I set up the AIM instance to have a Slow reduction group with a 1-day
interval. I also set up a Medium reduction group with a 12-hour interval,
and a Fast reduction group with a 1-hour interval. In the Auto Archiver, I
configured the Slow group to delete records after 365 days, the Medium group
to delete after 240 days, and the Fast group to delete after 90 days.
When I try to retrieve the daily averages, they all equal zero before
5/8/02. I checked my Slow reduction group files, and they go back to
12/12/01, but my Medium reduction group files oldest time stamp is, you
guessed it, 5/8/02. It looks like when I ask for daily averages, I get data
from the Medium reduction group instead of the Slow reduction group.
I read in the AIM documentation that the Medium interval has to be an "even
multiple" of the Fast, and the Slow has to be an "even multiple" of the
Medium. I have no idea what that means exactly, but I think 12 hours is an
even multiple of 1 hour, and 24 hours is an even multiple of 12 hours, so I
guess I did that right. Or do I have to actually put "24 hours" and not "1
Day" as the Slow interval and units? And if that's true, what are in those
Slow reduction files on the hard drive?
Did I configure something wrong, or is this a known issue?
