[foxboro] 2nd Ethernet problem

Hi List,
I am having problems getting a 2nd ethernet port on an AW-51B working aft=
er
an IP address change. The plant upgraded their switches and all machines=

were assigned new IP addresses, netmasks and default routers. I changed
the configuration of the 2nd ethernet port (le2) online using the ifconfi=
g
command (IP address and netmask) and everything worked fine for a couple =
of
weeks. I also changed the hosts file and the defaultrouter file. I did
not change the netmasks file. A couple of days ago the machine had to be=

rebooted and since then the 2nd ethernet port has not worked at all. Can=
't
ping anything.

In doing some checking I discovered a hostname.le1 file and no hostname.l=
e2
file. The machine has 3 ethernet ports but we have always used le2 as the=

external connection. I don't know where the hostname.le1 file came from.=
 =

I changed its name to hostname.le2 and rebooted but this did not correct
the problem. I then noticed that the netmask was not what I had set it =
to
a couple of weeks ago and realized I had not changed the netmasks file. =
So
I changed that and rebooted. Still doesn't work. If I check the setup
with ifconfig -a, everything appears ok except both ports appear the have=

the same MAC address. However I am pretty sure I remember that being the=

case ever since the 2nd ethernet port was originally setup many years ago=
. =

To check the cable and switch, I connected my notebook computer to the
patch cord and it was able to ping other machines ok.

I figure that I have missed something on the setup of this port but can't=

figure out what. I suppose that the ethernet card could have gone bad bu=
t
that seems unlikely. If I can't fix it soon, I will try to use le1 but
that is not a twisted pair card so I will have to find an adapter. Any
suggestions? Thanks for your help.
