RE: IFPSC vision and strategic plan

Well, the response to our request for feedback regarding the IFPSC strategic
plan hasn't exactly been overwhelming. We're debating whether the silence
should be interpreted as a sign of awe and wonder or disdain...

But seriously, please take some time to read throught the strategic document

http://fluidproperties.org/24-Aug-05-IFPSC-Vision.pdf
and give us some feedback:

What is your overall impression? Does it look good? Is anything missing?

What part seems most critical to you?

Are you interested in participating/contributing/helping as part of a team
addressing one or more of the vision elements? If so, which one(s)?

Thanks,
The IFPSC steering committee

Subject: IFPSC vision and strategic plan

The Industrial Fluid Properties Simulation Collective, organizers of the
Industrial Fluid Properties Simulation Challenge, has developed a draft
vision and strategic plan document summarizing its planned activities.

The vision and strategic plan are available on the web at:

http://fluidproperties.org

We request that you view the strategic plan. You may provide feedback
regarding the document by replying to this email or using the web form.

The vision statement summarizes our goals:

Molecular simulation will be an accurate and easy-to-use set of tools for
the prediction of physical properties of fluids and obtaining insight for
discovery for systems whose behavior is dominated by non-bonded interactions
between chemical species. It will be a breakthrough technology widely
accepted and applied in industry and continually improved to meet the
evolving needs of the chemical industry. Through an international
collaboration between industry, academia, and national labs (coordinated by
NIST), we will develop Standard Reference Simulations, validation of
methods, quantification of uncertainty, force field and simulation
databases, and communication standards between programs, thus enabling users
to select appropriate simulation methods to achieve results with requisite
accuracy.

We look forward to hearing from you,
The IFPSC steering committee
