FixtureFlash PCB Fixturing Solutions brought to you by SP Precision _____ May 1, 2002 Kill two birds with one stone! Here is a simple idea that may be able to save you some money somewhere down the road. This customer had two PCB's that were very similar in terms of PCB geometry. Both had LED's and small switches that needed to be held down to keep them from floating through wave solder. But as you can see in the photo, the PCB on the right has about twice as many of those components as the PCB on the left. This situation was easily addressed by creating one fixture base to process both PCB's, and providing interchangable top hats to deal with the differences in component location and density. This is a great way to lower and distribute your tooling costs between similar boards. Maybe it is an idea you can put to future use. Until next time, happy assembly! _____ Thank you SP Precision would like to thank everybody for reading FixtureFlash. We hope you find this information useful.
