Hi, folks — as Sande Young’s invitation to help and/or otherwise support the
upcoming pizza party may not have come through clearly, here’s the info again:
The party is in the dining room on Saturday, December 17th with two seatings,
one at 4:00 pm, another at 5:00 pm. Let Sande know if you can help out
(617-527-1726, ssyspts33@xxxxxxx).
Donations are most welcome. Tax deductible checks can be made out to "Hebrew
SeniorLife" with a note on the bottom memo line that it's "for Families and
Friends of 100 Centre St." or just "F&F100." Checks can be dropped off at the
front desk for Laura Baber, or mailed to her at: Center Communities of
Brookline, 100 Centre Street, Brookline, MA 02446.
Along with next week’s calendar at
http://groupspaces.com/FamiliesandFriendsof100Centre/pages/weekly-calendars, ;
Laura has sent along a note about two other events:
On Sunday, Dec 11th at 1:30, Levine Chapel’s Bob Nardone will be here to
discuss an aspect of end of life planning…making advance funeral arrangements.
At 2:30, Ann Kliman, PhD, who has been leading a weekly discussion group, “Mind
Over Matter” will focus on how one looks at end of life preparation (she’s had
57 years as a therapist, working in this area). Family are welcome to
attend…it’s a big group!
Starting Monday, Dec 19th, Beth Meltzer Abelow (Jeanette Meltzer’s daughter…and
a licensed massage therapist) will be at Danesh once per month on the third
Monday to offer 10 minute “chair massages” for residents. The cost is $1/min
($10) and residents can sign up in the Great Room. This could also be a great
thing for family/friends to give as a gift to a loved one. Beth has done two
presentations and demonstrations for residents to see how chair massage works
(and we had our facilities staff get one as a treat…they loved it). She’ll be
coordinating the sign up, calling beforehand with a reminder and collecting the
cash or check at the time of the appointment. This will be held in the first
floor Activity Room.

Families and Friends of 100 Centre St., Brookline, supports
the quality of life of residents living there. We work with
residents and the administration on developing programs and
activities that encourage the residents' children and other
family members to interact, get involved in the social life
of the building, and support each other with the challenges
of aging.
