A/D does not enforce the uniqueness of a UPN (ADU&C does, but that's
just a GUI). However, if duplicate UPNs exist in a forest, the accounts
associated with those duplicates will be unable to authenticate via a
UPN.

You are correct. As long as the UPN, samaccountname, and RDN are
unique,
then they can be created. To the system, it's usually a GUID anyway.

I agree.

Not very sure I understand here.
So, can there be an account with cn=John L. Smith, ou=Management,
dc=testdomain, dc=com, sAMAccountName=jsmith, and an other account with
cn=John L. Smith, ou=testdomain, dc=com, sAMAccountName=smithj? In other
words are these two accounts distincts?

Thanks,

Monika
