Check with your Microsoft Rep reguarding licensing. I don't believe that
setup will allow you to upgrade from Enterprise to standard edition. What
you may have to do is introduce a swing server built on 2003 FE and then
remove the 2K servers. I say to check with the rep because it's really a
licensing issue more than a technical but there was talk about enforcing it
technically. I personally haven't looked at it since before RTM.

Subject: [exchangelist] upgrading question to 2003

http://www.MSExchange.org/

My existing Front-End servers are all E2K Enterprise (Obviously), but as I
understand it, E2k3 can be run as a front end in the standard version.

If so, will I have any problems upgrading from 2000enterprise to
2003standard?

I have no stores on them at all

The reason I ask is we were sent 2003 standard by accident & I'm wondering
if they are usable anywhere.

Thanks in advance

Doug
