RE: upgrading Exchange 2003 to --->cluster

Your best move would be to purchase a third server... form a two node cluster ( 
with similar hardware) and then move the mailboxes from your standalone server 
to the NEW cluster.
 
  Benefits:
        -  SAME HARDWARE For both nodes of cluster
        - New Database from scratch.... ( Not a repaired one. )
        - Plus all the benefits of having a cluster and Exchange on a cluster.
 
    If it´s not possible to purchase a third  server.... then I suggest you 
create another stand-alone server and move 2000 mailboxes to that new server...

Hi,

 

I have exchange 2003 enterprise with SP1 hosting 4000 Mailbox in a production 
network. Now I want to buy one more server and do a two node cluster. I read on 
Microsoft web site that if I have already installed exchange 2003 in 
non-cluster mode then to make it cluster I have to re-install exchange 2003. I 
just thought of asking experts. Can some one please let me know the steps & 
risks involved.
