Hi

I have done it already and it is looking in primary domain controller.
Would that make it safe to demote?

Thanks

First, no such thing as PDC and BDC any more. They are all DCs with
various roles.

No, you can not just run DCPROMO as if that server was a DC before
Exchange was installed, Exchange is only going to look to it for AD
information.

There is information out there on how to "point" Exchange to a different
DC. After that, I think you can run a DCPROMO.

Hello everyone,

Just to be cleared! There are 3 server and all 3 are domain controllers.
PDC,MAIL,BDC. PDc is holding the FSMO rule. If I want to demote exchange
box a domain master, all I need to do is running dcpromo ,right?

Exchange 2003 running on server 2003.

Appreciated :-)
