Hi Mark,
If you force SSL and basic authenticaton on the OWA folders, you will
*never* see this phenomenum. I've confirmed and reconfirmed this hundred
of times.

This could well be related to port translation for UDP. I have seen this
before with remote users and the fault was with the port that they were
trying to communicate over. I can't remember the exact port numbers but
as I recall, the client was trying to connect over port X and it had
been blocked but this was supposed to get redirected to another port but
depending upon the network path that it was taking was why it failed to
get there some times and not others. Suggest you get a netmon trace to
see the exact port numbers that are being used.

Users in are having periodic issues connecting to the mail server.
Many people are getting an error that says that the Mail Server is
unreachable. They then have to click on retry up to 4 times before they
finally connect and get their e-mail.
Client is outlook 2000/2002 ,accessing remotely with a 5MB link.
Server is Exchange 2000.
