outlook access over VPN

Hi guys,

I have users who are connecting to their exchanga mail boxes oer VPN.
Initially users were not able to connect to their mail boxes on exchange
some times after connecting to VPN users could able to connect to theri
mail box, but now users experiencing problem here.

outlook client hangs soon they connect to mailbox over VPN.
they need to terminate the process.

and some times users have to wait longer time to conect to their mail

pls advise how do I troubleshoot this issue.
