I think you miss the point.

It doesn't give extra rights to the end-user.

It provides additional flexibility to the administrator.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply...

But I am still confused because I am not clear what addition rights the
associated external account gives.

I mean is this required for MAPI client or OWA client?

I have two forests, one forest is having mailboxes and other forest is
having accounts.

I have just given the full mailbox rights and I am able to access the
mailbox properly.

So what extra right I will get if I enable external associated account
permission?

It's primarily used during either conversion, or when you have one-way
trusts in Windows 200x (i.e., you are using an Exchange forest as a
resource domain).

A pretty good overview is at:

http://www.MSExchange.org/

Hi,

What is association external account permission? For what features it
used for?

As per my knowledge it is used for to delegate the OWA External forest
users to open the mailbox. But I have two windows 2003 forest, I am
successfully able access the mailbox which's on other forest using Owa
without giving external associated permission. I have given only full
rights.

Is associated External Account is only applicable when we have want to
associate the mailbox to the NT users?

Thanks,

Manjeet
