Hi, When offline defrag runs, it creates a new database file and then copies all the data in the old file to the new file. This can take a lot of time. On average, it takes about one hour to defragment 5 to 10 GB. You need enough free space for the offline defrag process to hold the new file. There is no such specification of RAM. As a general rule, you should have 100 percent more free space than the amount you're defragmenting. Have a look at the article below, http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/exchange/55/deploy/store55. mspx http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/exchange/55/maintain/edbwp. mspx Regards, Paresh Joshi -----Original Message----- From: philippe.ortolan@xxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:philippe.ortolan@xxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Friday, November 11, 2005 1:45 AM To: [ExchangeList] Subject: [exchangelist] lot of memory used by eseutil 5.5 http://www.MSExchange.org/ Hi there, Is anybody an idea about eseutil (exchange 5.5) ? when it defrags my priv.edb (73Go), it takes a long time (48 hours)...
