That's right. And after 1 hour (let's say you set that time) the IMS will
trash this from the Queue. You may also want to turn of notification, which
I do not suggest, because users need to know if their mail did not get sent
for whatever reason.

That will only affect the retry timeout's correct....not the initial/first
try?

If you open IMS, select the Connections tab and then the Timeouts. You can
then change to your preferred settings. You must restart IMS after the
change.

 Does anyone know how to freeze the outbound IMS queue in exchange 5.5?
Once the user submits the email the server immediately will contact the
host.   Is there anyway to change the timeout so messages stay in the IMS
queue for a few minutes?
