Mike, Is this in an Exchange 2003 environment or Exchange 2000

Here is what you do:

After creating the external contact for JoeUser@xxxxxxx, right click on
it, Properties, E-mail Addresses, New, SMTP, and add the email address
with the desired recipient domain name (JoeUser@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx)
