Basically, you deny "Everyone" access to the Default Address List, and
only allow each group access to their own address list.

You will remove "Everyone" and "Authenticated Users" from each address
list for each group.

I create a second GAL and filter it to show the desired members but how
to set the group to use this GAL as its default?

how does other ppl do it when they have huge number of users in each
department or group?
