exchange 2000 routing engine fail to start

i'm having a problem with the routing engine. when i try to start it-it gives
the error message. The path is not valid. therefore mail is not being routed
in the exchange.
the history behind the problem is as follows:
installed iomega peerless drive on the server on saturday-on reboot got the
infamous inaccessible_boot_device. had to repair windows-had some problems
after this with exchange but i got most of them sorted all but this one.
