Not really, if you want to run Exchange 2003 then install it on your Windows
2000 server, you can run Exchange 2000 in a Windows 2003 Domain as long as
its installed on a Windows 2000 member server.

Microsoft made some major changes to the security model in Windows 2003 and
also to the architecture of IIS that would mean spending a lot of time and
money altering Exchange 2000's architecture of it to run on a Windows 2003
Server.

This explains some of the differences in Windows 2003:

If your happy with Exchange 2000 then stick with Windows 2000, if you want
to go to Exchange 2003, then you can make the choice of going to Windows
2003 or staying with Windows 2000.

I guess microsoft wanted to get more money out of us to goto exchange 2003.
Funny how exchange 5.5 would work on a 2000 server.
