You could try opening the file with another application..
For example sometimes I come across word files that will not open but if you
open them with Word Pad or notepad they open. You lose the formatting but
get the data.
If you have access to Lotus that would be worth a try. Also is you have
Microsoft Access try to import the data.

That file is probably corrupt.
Try this: Open Excel then goto Data / Import external data /
Import Data
Browse to where that file is and try to import the data from 1
file to another, maybe you can retrieve all the "good" stuff.

Hi everybody
I am coming w excel problem even it is exchange forum. I have a very
impotrtant file and can not open it today. Get mess: "excel.exe has
generated an error......".
Have update w SR-1 as suggested by Microsoft. And still now same. It is
very important and urgent.
Can somebody help pls . Thks.
