Your mx record point to your firewall (PC router)on the internet. There should
be an option in winroute to redirect port 25 to your internal mail server! From
the outside world it looks as if the mail server is the same as your firewall
but it isn't. It will redirect SMTP traffic directly to exchange server, so
your exchange doesn't have a public IP address.

router), then how to map to mail server ? does mailserver must used ip public
too ?

It's depending on ur pc router you use. If it is NAT enabled so you have to
bind the mail server public address to the internet interface (Winroute in
mind) and Map to the internal IP address of your mail server. Make sure your
internal DNS is resolves to the internal users as well.

    http://www.MSExchange.org/

    hi guys,

i'm plan to setup a new ex2k, and want to install firewall too. i'm using
a pc router (low cost) for internet sharing, and firewall. the scheme like
this :

internet --- pc router -- switch -- LAN

                                          |

                                        ex2k

i'm confused at the ip public for ex2k. from outside, ex2k server can only
known if using public ip, right ? how to set the ip for ex2k, if i share the
connetion from pc router ? or is there better solution for my scheme ? can
you explain to me or is there a good reference link ?

    thank's.....

    hery
