email address

Hi

   We new install exchange 2003 server in the member server in the child 
domain. 
Why email address is not with child domain address and with root domain 
address?  Could do a change it with child domain address?  For example,  
  
  root domain is  ms.company.com, 
  child domain is  mssanjose.ms.company.com
  member server is joining with mssanjose.ms.company.com

  receive and send email address is  username@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx now. 
  How to change  email address to  username@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx?
