The SMTP service in IIS 5.0 and 6.0 is capable of handling thousands of
messages per hour. Many of us operating e-mail servers in ISP environments
use it as gateways and/or backup MX records. Additionally, there are 3rd
party products available to add virus, spam, RBL and tarpitting to it if
desired.
