Veritas & Exchange mail notification problem...

My apologizes in advance if this is the wrong list to post this to.
I have Veritas Backup Exec 8.5 running on my w2k network w/Exchange 2k
and I'm having a problem with the Email Confirmation Setup under
Schedule Options. For some reason it will not allow me to enter a
profile name and password. I've created the backupexec user/email
account, logged in under the backup account, connected to the media, but
I can't create this or any of the other options that deal with either
setting up SMTP or email notifications. Could I be missing something
here? The instructions seemed cut and dry: create a profile, log in as
account, and send mail from account. I'm able to send mail internally
from this account with no problem. The event logs don't show much other
than me logging in as this user. 
So I guess I'm trying to troubleshoot the exchange side.
