Using MS Outlook in firewalled systems / OWA limited functionality?

Hi all,
I have customers that are locked behind a firewall that only lets HTTP and
HTTPS traffic through. using OWA works nicely for them, but some functionality
is not available to them as they are using IE rather than Outlook itself to
access the Exchange server. Is there a way to access the Exchange server with
Outlook (not IE) over HTTP/HTTPS?
One of the main functionalities they're missing is the ability to save messages
to disk in batches (i.e. mark 20 messages and save them). Any ideas how that
can be done in OWA?
