Well thanks heaps for your help it appears as though we have managed to get
to the bottom of the problem:

When the email address is being generated by the 3rd party application, it
is specifying the email type incorrectly. Instead of saying that the email
is a SMTP type (or other valid format) it is placing a copy of the email
address. Therefore when the email is being looked at by Exchange, the server
has no idea what "type" of email this is, so it bounces it back.

I confirmed it with help from Stephen when he sent me the complete header
information - and noticed that the email address of the problematic one
looked rather strange - right clicking on the address on the actual original
email (that in turn bounced back) and selecting properties showed the above
finding.

Cheers again for your help

Regards
Troy

P.S Stephen if you do want me to resend one of these e-mail's then let me
know, however it will exhibit exactly the same symptoms as those we have
been looking at.

Would be curious to see the sent e-mail to me that failed. Resend to me and
add this e-mail to it - steve@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
<mailto:steve@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

This might prove the "Accpac padding theory".

When I simply resend the mail - it fails with the same problem. If I resend,
BUT type in the address myself it works fine.

I have tried it with your address in the address line - however it failed,
just like the other ones.

I will forward 2 emails to you from the account in question.

Cheers

What happens if you "resend" the mail (from the sent items folder)? From
info you have given, there should be an attachment. Again, try sending to an
external account and again you can send to me. I would also like to see two
e-mails directly from that account, one straight text and one with an
attachment (approx same size word doc that Accpac is trying to send)

That is the strange thing - I have sent it to an external account, and it is
the same (exactly the same apart from the email address being that of the
external account) - still no headers though.....Could this be something to
do with the issue??

It appears to be as though the email never gets past the mail
server.......??

My apologies, I see what you mean (have never looked at the header of a sent
item before!). From your e-mails, I see that you are sending to a local
account. Try sending to an external "real" account (send it to me if you
like - I don't think that a hotmail account will give us the info we need),
then we can see if it is an internal or external issue.

Stephen I presume you are talking about View->Options->then copy the
Internet Header information. If this is the case - there is no detail in
here(i.e. it is blank).

If you can offer any thoughts on this they are appreciated - as the supposed
experts from ACCPAC cannot decide what is happening - hence me trying to
find out using this forum as a resource.

Cheers

Troy
