Subject line changes to the same on all emails

Had a bit of weirdness happened just now. Running Exchange 2003, remote
user running Outlook 2000 on W2K laptop and a Blackberry. User said
that he was getting a sychronize failure on his inbox, so I went into
his mailbox and moved the items to a personal folder whereupon I got a
message that there was a duplicate message with a different timestamp.
I selected to keep the latest message and moved that one as well. I had
him sync up, then moved the items back and had him sync again. He was
able to complete the sync, but now all of the subject lines read the
same. Anybody ever see anything like this?
