The server has to belong to a domain in order for Exchange to be
installed on it.

Well, this is something that I´ve never understood.

What is "windows authentication" ? Sometimes companies have a
smtp relay on DMZ. Usually this server doesnt belong to any domain,
specially internal domain. Where does this "windows authentication"
occur? If this server doesnt belong to a domain...

If you can explain me that, that would be great.

        Regards

If you want to stop all relaying attempts you could alter authentication
to only accept "windows authentication" this should stop any relay
attempts.
