Good point to consider, but we have Exchange Enterprise

If you DON'T do an offline defrag (assuming you are using Exchange Standard,
not Enterprise) Exchange will crash when it gets beyond 16GB limit. I know
because mine crashed. We purchased PerfectDisk 7 for Exchange, which enables
scheduling of offline defrags.

There is never any need to do an offline defrag unless: (a) PSS has explicitly
instructed you to do so, or (b) the usage patterns of the database have changed
dramatically.

Hello All,

We just finished doing offline defrag (ESEUTIL /d /p) on our mailbox stores
after implementing storage limits. Do any shops out there do a defrag on any
regular time interval? We were guessing 1/quarter during our regular
maintenance down time.

We are Exchange 2003, Windows Server 2003, 1xFE-2xBE shop.

Thanks, Robert
