This really makes sense! So, they can then choose Basic when they log on
through dialup?

Depends on what's making it slow and how consistently it's slow.  If they're
the only ones that have that issue, do they get the same result using the
slimmed down version for slow networks?

Have you received a network capture to see what happens over the wire that
may make it slow? Have you verified it's the network and not the workstation?

I just upgraded from Exchange 2000 to Exchange 2003. Users who are using
dialup (yes, they are still out there) are expressing very slow access to
OWA. Is there a way to speed it up from my end?
