We are only going to let our ip blocks through and not others isp's blocks.
This is what is troubling me why i will not work on different subnets but on
the same isp network.

You would have a lot less uncontrolled issues if you investigate RPC/HTTP
functionality. Many ISP's are still blocking 135 TCP on the routers due to
the virus outbreaks.
Additionally, may want to investigate ISA server vs. a stateful inspection
only solution especially if you still decide to go with MAPI access.

Hello all,
I am new to this forum and figured this would be a great place to start with
the problem I am having trying to implement a shared hosting environment for
using Exchange 2000. I am really new to Exchange 2000.
Anyway, here is my scenerio:
I have three servers with the following installed:
Server A - Active Directory server (w2k advanced server)
Server B - Back-end Exchange Server (w2k a.s w/exchange 2000)
Server C - Front-end Exchange/OWA server (w2k a.s w/exchange 2000)
All the above servers are completley patched for Windows 2000 and have all
the recent Exchange patches as well.
HTTP, POP, SMTP, and IMAP work great inside and outside of the firewall.
Mapi works fine inside of the firewall.
The main issue is trying to get mapi to work through a stateful firewall so
that I can have some clients connect to exchange directly with outlook. It
works great behind the firewall. We also took the firewall out of the mix
and still could not connect from a client setting up outlook to access the
exchange server. I have dns entries in my host file pointing to the exchange
netbios name as well. I also just tried from my home pc enabled port 135 and
no go as well.
Am I missing something with this configuration?
A very important registry hack possible to allow any ip subnet to access the
server via RPC (with of course the firewall only allowing certain ip blocks
to hit the server with RPC ). I am having a tough time getting any
documentation on this or let's say detailed documentation. I ran across
multiple registry entries needed on the MS knowlegebase but was not sure I
need all those to get this accomplished.
