One piece of information that would be helpful when you include it, would be
to know what you expect as the end result of the migration? For example, do
you just want to migrate the mailbox data? If so, what type of client are
they now? Pop? Web?

Do you expect to migrate the user accounts from a directory service or a
local etc/password file? What about mail flow? What has to happen there?
Any re-write rule customization being done?

Questions that give us, the reader the best understanding of your
environment and the best understanding of what you want to accomplish when
finished would be helpful.

There's a few tricks that go along with what you want to do depending on
EXACTLY what you want to accomplish.

That's a fine answer, although a bit expensive for a referral. I bet if he
tells us where he is, a bundle of folks would step up and offer to consult
on it!

But:

If he's feeling energetic, he could try using migwiz. You can use MigWiz
for LDAP and IMAP mail migrations - although to be honest, this is something
I've never actually tried.

But the option is there, so you might want to give it a run in the lab - you
DO have a lab, right?

Of course, the client migration also has to be taken into account, and that
can usually be scripted to one extent or another, depending on your current
environment and situation.

In other words, you have a lot of research to do if you're going to do it on
your own, and this isn't really the place to start. Having said that, if
you share a bit more detail with us (more than 'you run
sendmail') I'm sure you can get a bit more info here.

You last step is incorrect. It should be:

Contact Microsoft Professional Support, pay the $295, and ask them for a
list of Certified Partners that can do the work for me.
