OK, I understand.
Is the machine name by chance nc10s069?
I THINK you can change the FQDN in the SMTP Virtual server properties under
Delivery | Advanced.
However, I am a very stout believer that any server dealing with e-mail or
any publicly available services, such as Web sites and so forth, should be
configured with a full complete FQDN such as server.domain.com. I see so
many people have problems with notices or headers or DNS or such when they
do not have the server name properly configured, although technically
allowed. It is like sending a letter, and on the envelope putting the Name
and City and State. Chances are, it might get there.
That is also way gateway e-mail filtering products should not be sending
notifications out unless they are user aware.

I am running Mail Security and Mail essentials on a Win2003 server in the
DMZ. I am running SMTP mail relay so this machine receives all mail,
processes it through the filters and then passes the 'safe' e-mails into our
exchange organization. On the other hand, I have my Exchange bridgehead
setup to send all mail to the SMTP mail relay server in the DMZ and from
their to the internet.
The SMTP mail relay server does not have Exchange installed on it at all....
This is the process that I am having trouble with (in IIS6):
1. an invalid e-mail is sent to 'anyone@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx'
2. the e-mail is received in the DMZ by IIS V6.0 and processed through the
filters
3. if the e-mail triggers a filter, an automated response is sent by GFI
stating that their mail was quarantined. The from address is
Administrator@nc10s069 instead of Administrator@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx I have
the masquerade domain setup as GlobalKnowledge.com in IIS but this does not
seem to work.

I can walk you through Meta Edit if needed. Pretty easy, as long as you
think that it is like editing the registry. One mistake...
However, I am confused on what you have setup.
It appears you have Exchange 5.5, Mail Essentials and Mail Security on a
Windows 2003 server. Is that correct?
Then what is the SMTP Virtual server on IIS 6.0 relay for, Exchange 5.5 or
Mail Security?
Is Exchange 5.5 supported on Windows Server 2003?

Hello all,
I am running an SMTP mail relay in the DMZ of our organization using
Win2003 IIS V6.0. Currently, this box is running GFI mail essentials and
Mail Security (in gateway mode) with Exchange 5.5. Though everything is
working well, I have one small glitch. It seems that bounce backs from the
SMTP Mail Relay server replies to emails that trigger rules as
Administrator@nc10s069. I have setup a 'masquerade domain' (IIS V6.0
feature) of GlobalKnowledge.com in hopes that it will reply as
Administrator@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx instead. After contacting GFI, they
stated that they have not tested their products on a Gateway box running
Windows 2003 IISV6.0 even though they say their product supports this OS.
Any clue on what may be going on here?
Their support said that I would have to use some tool called 'Meta Edit' or
'ADSI' to change this address, although they could not support me in doing
this. I am pleased with their product but kind of dissapointed in their
support for a product that their software is advertised to work on. They
also said that these tools could 'damage' the machine, 'so be careful.' No
help for me....
