[ExchangeList] Remove exchange server from network

 
Hi,
 
I have installed a new Exchange Server 2k and moved all my mailboxes and
configurations to the new server.
 
My question is what should i do first? Run dcpromo on the old server or
uninstall Exchange on the old server?
 
I saw a paper (i think it was from Ed Crowley ?!??) that says you should
first run dcpromo on the old server, but if i do this wont it remain
information about the old exchange server in the AD?
