Hi
I am also facing the same problem, This is not a relay problem it seems, I got
the sender address from internet header. I blocked that domain from IMS and
Firewall, but still some mails are coming, I informed my ISP regarding this. Is
there any other way to prevent this?
Regards
Aboo Arif

I used an article that gave me instructions on how to close the relay. After I
did that, I tested it using a telnet session, did a "mail to:" command and a
"recpt from:" command and it returned a "550 message that said relaying was
prohibited". The article said if I received that message, then relaying was
not on.

Someone else on this list mentioned that it might be a "bcc" issue, but it
isn't. The user wasn't even aware that the message was being sent. I checked
his rules to see if he had done something crazy in there, but no. In fact, the
rules he did have were unchecked so they shouldn't have been used.

My manager just sent me the header info, and it says its from our ISP
(something about a backupmx), then it also says it's from the user. I guess
I'll have to call them and see if they can shed any light on this.

I'm looking into the Microsoft articles that were mentioned as well.

Thanks, everyone, for the help.

Did you check the headers of the mail to check exactly from where this mail is
coming? The ip of the server etc? Are you sure you closed the relaying? How
did you close it? Are you sure it is not someone internally?

Hi All

We are having a strange problem here. My manager has been getting emails from
an attorney in our firm that he has not sent to her. It's usually a spam email
and when she opens it, the From and To line both have the attorney's name. We
don't see her name anywhere. Our consultant suggested that it may be a relay
issue, but I've turned relaying off and it's still happening. Also, email from
this attorney has been sent to others in our firm.

Has anyone encountered this type of problem?

Thanks,
Delores
