Yes, like I said, you must be authenticated (as you stated as well.)

The discussion is whether to log off of a server or lock it.

Not if the user you have the scheduled jobs run as has access to the shares.

We have and account "EXCHBU" and the task runs as that user. So no need for
credentials on the command line. Alternately, you could run it as the local
system, and then add the "domain computers" group to the permissions of the
share you want to back up.
