Very simple danny,

Here, I created a user, and added him to the Exchange Enterprise Servers
group. Then, you open ADUC, put it into advanced mode and give the
Exchange Enterprise servers group full mailbox access.

Then, delegate exchange admin full control to the user, and you're up to
go.

After long, cold nights I managed to make it work. ;)

Assunto: [exchangelist] How have *you* setup Exmerge on Exchange 2003

http://www.MSExchange.org/

I have read three or four different documents now regarding the
connection between Exmerge (the latest version), admin permissions,
mailboxes, and Exchange Server 2003. *None* of them have worked for
me, so obviously I am missing something because I receive the same
error: "[13:49:01] Error opening message store (MSEMS). Verify that
the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service is running and that
you have the correct permissions to log on. (0x8004011d)" when
attempting to access mailboxes through Exmerge -- in this case I am
simply trying to archive a mailbox.

Before installing Exmerge, I had the following account config:

built-in Admin - don't use this account
new Admin account - use this primarily for administrative tasks
-Part of all the same groups that the built-in admin
account is part of

So, first I came across this doc:

http://www.winnetmag.com/articles/index.cfm?articleid=42867

...and created the group and specified all the appropriate permissions
for all of the mailbox stores. Then I added the "new Admin account"
noted above, to this new Exmerge security group. I then receive the
error message noted above.

So, the second article:

http://www.kbalertz.com/Feedback.aspx?kbNumber=823143

...so I created a new domain user account, and added it to the new
Exmerge group. And ran Exmerge.exe AS this new user, but I still
receive the same error message. But, first I had to modify the Domain
Controller Security policy to allow this use to logon locally.

I hate Friday's like this! :-)

So, the question; how have YOU setup your Exchange server and
account/permissions, so that you can successfully run Exmerge?

Thank you,

...D
