Well, compared to most of the other posters, I am a rookie.
I have been in IT since late 1999 giving me 4 years of experience. I started
out at an IT service provider working on client networks and systems as well
as the in-house network. I quickly moved up to administering the in-house
network which consisted of developers, IIS servers, SQL servers and an
e-mail server. Within 6 months I was thrust into the world of e-mail
administration when the previous admin (one of the developers) could not
figure out why we and our clients could not send to AOL. (We were an open
relay.) (And still taking care of clients.)
Since then, I have become deeply involved in DNS and e-mail. I have since
started my own business taking over select accounts from my former employer
when he decided he wanted out of the IT business.
My main focus is on administering and maintaining client networks including
Exchange, SQL, AD, IIS, Windows 2000, Windows 2003 and Windows XP. My
secondary focus is on e-mail and spam. My third and minor focus is on
hosting services.
I have learned a lot from the real experts on this list, as well as the
sister list at ISAServer.org. I then pay this back by helping others where I
can, although I am not an Exchange expert.
