I recommend you with the followings:
1 - Use Windows 2K Advanced server with service pack 2
2 - Use the active directory to create the mailboxes
        3 - Use Exchange 2000 with service pack 2
4 - Use the RAID5 and you know you have to have at least 3 hard drives.
5 - Use the storage group method

Ammer

We use Exch 5.5 on WinNT on a SCSI RAID5 set. No major performance issues.

E-mail is used heavily, but we only have 50 mailboxes

We are planning to change our current server with a brand new dual
processor Dell server
with 1 ghz Ram and three Hard Drives that will be setup as RAID 5. I have
read about RAID 5 that it's proper for systems where the performance
is not of importance
and with few read operations.
Anyone has any idea if it's gonna be appropriate for Win2k and Exchange2k ?
Any info would be appreciated.

Saud
