Personal Distribution lists missing

I have a strange problem. When an mail is sent internally, from
openmail to exchange environment, the user adds as an attachment a
personal distribution list attahced from contacts. However, when the
message is delivered the DL has been stripped. Can anyone shed any light
on why this is the case.
