What client are you using, Outlook or Outlook Express ? By default OE
adds the Active Directory services to the directory list. You can do a
search for a specific name or email address in the Active directory, but
no way to list it as an address book. LDAP is primarily a search based
directory. This is the same limitation when using OWA in Exchange, you
can only search the GAL but not browse it. If your client is configured
to use Active Directory as a search directory, every time the user sends
a new email, the user IDs will be resolved against the Active directory
automatically. I am not sure if there is an easy way to browse the GAL
as you would in Exchange environment.

does anybody know how to display the GAL through pop3 accounts? i Have
added the server as a directory service but i can get no names
