Allowing Outlook client to access internal Exchange server through internet is not secure. You are openning up yr Exchange server for attack. If you have high speed cable access to internet, you should consider install VPN. Using VPN to tunnel thru is more secure. That is what our campus is going to provide to some teaching staff. Exact same scenario for me too except that the problems began after I installed Sygate Personal Firewall at home. Once I removed this product I could again access the Exchange server. -Edwina -----Original Message----- From: Nigel Briggs [mailto:nbriggs@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Monday, November 25, 2002 8:29 AM To: [ExchangeList] Subject: [exchangelist] Outlook - unable to connect remotely http://www.MSExchange.org/ I am running Exchange server 5.5 and Outlook 2000 as my client. About 1 month ago my ability to login to the Exchange server from home (high speed cable going thru a cable router) ceased. There are no problems connecting on the internal network. I have tried creating a new profile using the ip address and still cannot connect to the server. We have checked to make sure no ports are being blocked by the ISP. Any ideas where I should start troubleshooting?
