Thanks for your reply Seyi, it's good to know it's not just us. I too will
report this to Microsoft, as it's a fairly serious bug in my opinion.

Hi Greg,

In my environment we use exchange 2000+SP3 and outlook 2002 clients. Like
you, and few people and I in my organization have started testing office
2003. You are very correct if I reply to a message from outlook's desktop
alert the original message does not change to reflect that that the email
has been replied to or forwarded, it just reflects that the mail has been
read.

The desktop alert is a new feature in outlook, I guess that is why it has
not been perfected. I'll forward this to tech support and see what they can
come up with. Or is there anyone in here in tech support that might be of
help?

Regards

Seyi

http://www.MSExchange.org/

We use Exchange 5.5 SP4+ and most users are using Outlook 2002. A number of
us have been testing Outlook 2003 (as part of Office), and I've been
generally pleased with it. However, I've found the following behavior and
suspect it may be a bug. If someone out there with Outlook 2003 could try to
replicate this, it would help me determine if it's particular to my setup.

When I reply to or forward a message from Outlook's Desktop Alert (the
transparent pop-up window), the original message's icon doesn't change to
indicate a reply or forward has been sent. I cannot, therefore, use the
feature that allows me to find related messages. While this isn't a critical
issue, but it's caused problems for me and I predict others in my
organization will find it troubling as well.

Thank you,

Greg Lara
